Operational reliability on great depths

Over the years A/S Oilpower Hydraulics have performed engineering and manufactured equipment for subsea purposes.

The equipment is built up as compensating systems and special sealing systems, in order that it can be used deep down under the surface of the sea.

GeoCeptor

The subsea rig shown is used for CPT tests as well as for taking samples from the ocean bottom. The rig can operate in depths down to 3000 m.
The subsea rig is designed and constructed in co-operation between the customer MacArtney and A/S Oilpower Hydraulics.

The CTP equipment is used for measuring the hardness of the ocean bottom. A probe is pressed down through the bottom layers at an accurate, continuous speed. The sample from the sea bottom is taken through a tube, which is pressed down into the underground by means of a vibrating system. The vibrating system is specially developed and has two different frequences.

Besides these systems the rig is constructed with

• pressure compensating system
• electric-hydraulic HPU
• valve tanks
• electronic tanks
• flushing system
• thrusters
• stabilisation system at each corner

Underwater winches

For the Norwegian offshore sector A/S Oilpower Hydraulics has supplied an underwater winch, constructed in stainless steel.

The winch is used to handle tools and components in a valve station on the bottom of the sea.
The hydraulic connection with water/glycerin is executed by a diver from a ROV.

The main component of the winch is a large radial piston electric motor with
• built-in brake
• compensating system
• over-centre valves
• operating valves
• manual pump for emergency operation
